Director & PSC Identity Verification

Companies House Identity Verification Handled On Your Behalf

BC&A manages the entire process as an authorised Corporate Service Provider, ensuring your company stays compliant and your filings remain uninterrupted.

What It Is

A legal requirement that affects every company director in the UK.

The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 introduced mandatory identity verification for all company directors, people with significant control, LLP members and trustees of certain entities registered at Companies House. These requirements are being phased in from Autumn 2025, with all existing appointments required to complete verification by Autumn 2026. This is not optional — failure to verify will prevent statutory filings from being made on your behalf and puts your company at risk of penalties and removal from the register.

As an authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP), BC&A is authorised to carry out identity verification on behalf of our clients. We manage the process from start to finish, update your Companies House records and provide written confirmation once verification is complete — so you have nothing to worry about and nothing to chase.

Who Needs To Verify

  • All current & future company directors
  • People with significant control (PSCs)
  • All LLP members & partners
  • Trustees of trusts registered at Companies House
  • Directors of multiple companies (one verification covers all)
  • New appointments from Autumn 2025 (before appointment)
  • All existing appointments by Autumn 2026

What Happens If You Do Not Verify

Failure to complete identity verification has direct practical consequences. BC&A and any other accountant or agent acting on your behalf will be unable to file accounts, confirmation statements or any other statutory documents until verification is complete. Your company risks financial penalties, and in serious cases, removal from the Companies House register. Acting now — well ahead of the Autumn 2026 deadline — removes that risk entirely.

Your Two Options

You can verify independently through GOV.UK One Login or at selected UK Post Offices, in which case you must provide BC&A with your verification code promptly so we can update your records and continue filing on your behalf. Alternatively, BC&A can manage the entire process for you as an Authorised Corporate Service Provider.

Our managed service costs £50 plus VAT per director, PSC, LLP member or trustee, covers full compliance with Companies House requirements and includes written confirmation once verification is complete. If you are a director of more than one company, a single verification covers all your appointments.

Please note that all relevant individuals for each entity must be verified before we can continue to act.

Identity Verification FAQs

I am a director of several companies. Do I need to verify separately for each one?
No. A single identity verification covers all your Companies House appointments across multiple companies. You only need to verify once and BC&A will apply that verification to all relevant entities we act for on your behalf.
All directors, PSCs and LLP members for each entity must verify. If any individual remains unverified after the deadline, we will be unable to file statutory documents for that company until the outstanding verifications are completed.
Yes. You can verify independently via GOV.UK One Login or at a selected UK Post Office. If you choose this route, you must provide BC&A with your verification code promptly so we can update your company records. If you would prefer to avoid the process entirely, our managed service handles everything for a fixed fee of £100 plus VAT per person.
Our identity verification service is available to existing BC&A clients and to new clients who engage us for accountancy, tax or company secretarial services. It is not offered on a standalone basis to individuals or companies we do not otherwise act for.
